We started off with making our Fall Bucket List on Friday evening. We all thought of a few ideas to add to the list -- but not too many because Fall doesn't last very long in Montana. We'll be making our Winter Bucket List next month. After coming up with our list I started a poster for everyone to decorate. Mase drew a few squiggles & Presley added some leaves & people in costumes. When we were done the list went up on the fridge.
Saturday morning Papa surprised us with breakfast at our favorite diner, The Beanery. The building is really cool & it's next to the tracks so we can watch the trains go by. Plus, their breakfast food is awesome.
After breakfast we headed to Paradise Valley & up Mill Creek Canyon. Mason napped while Tyson, Presley, & I listened to The Avett Brothers. Pretty perfect, if you ask me.
We spent a couple hours up there before heading home for lunch. After lunch we headed down to Bozeman to check out the pumpkin patch at Rocky Creek Farm. I'm officially obsessed with this farm. It's in the outskirts of Bozeman near Frontage Road. You cross an old wooden bridge to get to it & there are two cute blue homes on the property. One of the homes has a HUGE tree in the front yard with several (maybe 8) rope & tire swings hanging from it. That was easily Presley's favorite spot.
I think one of my favorite parts of Montana is that when we go somewhere busy, it's nothing compared to Utah busy. I don't get the panic attacks & desire to punch people when we go places. Weird. ;)
Anyway, so we waited for a tractor to pick us up & take us to the pumpkin patch at the back of the farm. We all piled in & then the farm employee that was driving asked if one of the kids in the wagon wanted to drive. Pres raised his hand & then hopped in the tractor's seat & drove us to the patch! Major highlight. He loved it so much & it was so cute to watch. So we picked our pumpkins, put them in the Subaru, & headed to the hay maze for the rest of the afternoon. We headed home, ate dinner, & spent the rest of the evening hanging out.
One of my Montana Instagram friends recommended checking out the Raptor Festival that was being held that weekend. It was free & family friendly but it was taking place in Bridger Canyon. I had to threaten convince Tyson to make the hour long drive. When we got there he remembered that the canyon is spectacular -- & it smells like pine!-- so he got over it pretty quickly.
They had face-painting, lots of exhibits, nature hikes, food, & several birds (owls, hawks, falcons,...). We enjoyed our time up the canyon, headed back to Bozeman to stop by a few thrifts, & then headed home.
We wrapped up the rest of our Sunday with dinner & popcorn selling (yes, his face is still painted). Presley raised almost $200 in an hour & a half! He's so close to his goal!!
