yellowstone.

we finally took the boys to yellowstone a few weeks ago. livingston is the original "gateway to yellowstone" & we are only an hour away from the north entrance. just another perk of our new home. =)

we packed a picnic basket full of food & loaded up the car. our first stop was lunch & frog catching at twin lakes.

after lunch we kept driving. we saw a bunch of people swimming in the firehole river, just above firehole falls. we decided to join them. on our drive back we noticed the "flyfishing only" sign...whoops.

the boys were soaking wet after the impromptu swim, but we continued on to see old faithful.

i was in the mood for a hike so we stopped at mystic falls (of course i picked this hike because of the vampire diaries). it was a mild, kid-friendly trail. & i loved every minute of it.

by the time we made it to the actual falls the sun was setting & the bugs were coming out. we headed back down the trail & stopped by a few geysers. the sapphire geyser was one of the most spectacular things i've ever seen.

on our drive back we noticed several cars & visitors stopped on the side of the road, more than normal. apparently we had missed a grizzly by minutes. bummer.

until next time, yellowstone.

sunday @ the museum & park.

we took the boys to the livingston depot museum a few weeks ago. we live in a railroad town so it was pretty cool to see. they also had a temporary exhibit about movies filmed in montana. =)

after the museum we chilled at the park for a little while. laid back, lazy sunday.

another saturday adventure.

i almost feel bad about posting this...it happened more than 4 weeks ago! but it was a random & adventurous day that i'd very much like to remember.

i had recently seen a post on reddit about an abandoned barn in paradise valley..so finding that barn became our original goal. we packed picnic supplies & loaded the kiddos in the land cruiser & headed out. we drove to what was supposed to be the location of the barn, but it ended up being a dead end/private property. i was a wee bit disappointed so tyson took us to the suce creek trailhead to cheer me up...& to get the boys out of the truck.

it was pretty darn hot & the trail didn't provide any shade but we reluctantly decided to try hiking anyway. after hearing what i thought was a rattlesnake & seeing a gnarly white spider crawling on presley's shirt...our hike officially ended.

so we head back into town (feeling hungry, bored, & slightly defeated) & have lunch at a picnic table that is next to the river. after lunch we walked down to the river. we all got our feet wet & the boys caught minnows.

after the river we walked across the street to check out the livingston sister city park & the abandoned building that was next to it. we spent the rest of the afternoon there. we checked out the creepy (awesome) building & the baby boys played while mama & papa hung out. perfect saturday.

music on main.

during the months of july & august, bozeman has a rad weekly concert series on main street. they close down a few blocks, have a live band, allow open containers, have food vendors, & kid-friendly activities. it's a good time. so much fun. we've been twice so far, but i'm looking forward to making this a tradition. we head down when tyson gets off work. grab a beer for mama & papa, some pizza & lemonade for the kiddos, & we walk around & listen to the band that is playing that week. bozeman is absolutely beautiful & the crowd is always fun. a variety of families, college students, & tourists. everyone is there.

presley watching the band. the boys playing with a family friend. mama & papa. the boys on main street. the band, cure for the common. bounce house. mama & papa getting ready to head home. beautiful bozeman. mama.

july 16th.

on july 16th tyson & i celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary. last year we celebrated in ketchum, id. this year we celebrated in our new home with our boys. tyson gave me flowers at lunch & i made us dinner. low-key, just the way we like it. =) i adore you, mr. perry. thank you for being mine.

one of our favorite activities this summer has been visiting the mcnair skate park in the evening. it's right next to the river so mason & i will take walks along the river trail while the big boys play.

mini home tour.

here are a few images of our livingston, mt house. we've been here for a month & a half & i'm still unpacking boxes & arranging items in our home. it's definitely a work-in-progress & i have several projects lined up for it. hopefully i'll have more time to work on them when presley goes back to school.

this house is quite a bit smaller than our provo home, but we're making it work until we're ready to purchase a home up here. i have several dreamy, charming homes on my wishlist.

our bedroom. we have a closet, window, antique standing mirror, & a bookcase with our computer (which i am sitting at as i type) on the opposite wall. =)

bathroom, obviously. we share it so i wanted it bright & colorful.

this is our toy room / study room. i'm quite fond of this wall in particular. just about everything you see here is vintage / thrifted. i adore it & am always looking for new-to-me items to add to my collection. the opposite wall has a bay window with a desk, telescope, craft supplies, & way too many toys.

children's library & vintage display.

we gave our pretty dining room set(which i inherited after my mom passed away) to my brother & sarah so we could save space in our little home. that pedestal table will hopefully look like this after we refinish it using this tutorial. until then, i have a lovely vintage tablecloth on it. :)

living room. the kitchen, patio, bathroom, & two bedrooms are to the right of the fireplace. & the door to the left leads to the toy / study room.

i believe that every woman's home should always have fresh flowers.

notice that i didn't post any photos of our living room furniture (other than the tv)? yep, that's because we don't have any. in an attempt to save money on a moving van & because we really wanted to start fresh with "our" furniture, we sold or gave away ALL of our couches. & we had lots of them...his bachelor pad couch, my chaise lounge chair, leather loveseat, leather sofa, matching leather chair, & ottoman. now, we can't decide if we want to buy a couch from ikea and pay an additional $300 for them to ship it to montana, or buy a charming vintage couch & have it re-upholstered. we're sticking with the camping chairs until we decide.
